Poetic Injustice

Content: Poetry diaries are hard to review because everyone can have a different interpretation/opinion of the poem. I do really like the fact that you have an Author's Commentary at the end of each poem, but some comments are quite vague and don't really explain what the poem is about.

Your compilation has poems that range from any emotion: happiness, love, sadness, anger, confusion, yearning, lust, everything. I like reading poems that can tie in everything, because it makes it more of a "life poem", because life ties in all emotions as well. Your poems are easy to read and understand, which is good for a variety of audiences. Some are deeper than others, and some have hidden meanings that only you could probably understand. You write well, and I could see your writing improving as the poems went on. Sometimes though, I think you could be more...different in your writing. Develop your own distinct style and flow. With many of your poems, you have a special way with your words and that adds deepness, like this quote:

"Lonely days are imminent
But they're a way to thicken your soul
These crazy days are redundant
But that's just the way that it goes"

However, some of your poems sound like the same type of poems that I read in many other diaries, like this quote:

"I hurt inside,
I cry and hide
It's all the same,
and moves like tide..."

So, it'd be interesting to see if you could try writing in a different way or style, just to see what it's like. However, I do really appreciate that all of your poems seem to be something you truly feel, not just something you decided to write about. (38/40)

Layout: Very simple layout, easy to read, which is great for a poem diary because every word of a poem needs to stand out. I love the picture, it gives sort of a modest dont-look-beneath-the-surface kind of feeling, which is almost ironic, yet it contrasts well with the fact that most poems are written beneath the surface of the poet. I think, however, the picture is a picture of the Jen that you write about so often. I think she used to be a reviewer here, too...haha. All links work and you've even got a little stats counter. I'm guessing you made the template? (19/20)

Emotions: Its a poem diary and every poem is a few emotions put into words. (20/20)

Extras: Reviews and a link to your friend's diary, a link to the list of linkers as well. Not too many but you don't really need a lot of extras for a poetry diary. Still, if extras are more, up the score. (3/10)

Link: Yes yes! On the Links page, and it even works when I click it! Wooow (I'm just being corny) (5/5)

Contact: E-mail and notes. How 'bout a guestbook, zonkboard, tagboard, guestmap, one of those extra unnecessary things but are yet required to have a full score. (3/5)

TOTAL SCORE: 88/100

Fave Entry: I like this poem because it seems to talk about balancing, "love you without clutching, join you without invading", it almost has more of a poetic style or rhythm than a meaning. But of course all poems have meanings :)

This is an absolute beautiful poem.

Fave Quote:

"You're walking through my heart once more,
don't forget to lock the door
I'm not something you want to be found
we all remember the chamber doors
where I lost the crown, full of jewels"

Comments: Youve got a great collection of poems that all seem to have a story behind them. Keep it up and dont be afraid to try every possibility.
